wenglor Assures More Safety in Swimming Pools

Water slides at thermal springs and water parks are becoming more and more popular all over the world amongst children and young people. This trend necessitates above all stricter security requirements – for users as well as for manufacturers. Wenglor’s type UMF303U035 Ultrasonic Sensors reliably detect whether or not a person is present in the water slides produced by Swiss recreation facilities manufacturer Klarer AG. The sensor’s signal is used to operate a traffic light system for other users waiting in line.

The safety requirements not only ensure trouble-free use of the slides, they also apply to repair and maintenance work under extreme conditions. The high-speed slides are subject to DIN standards and have to be certified each year by TÜV (German technical inspection authority). For Klarer AG, easy handling was a decisive criterion for selecting wenglor sensors: “For example, maintenance work on slides can often only be conducted from the outside, which is associated with considerable risk”, explains Daniel Nyffenegger, General manager of wenglor Switzerland. “On the one hand, our sensors are easy to replace from the inside thanks to their continuous thread, and they can also be adjusted by means of remote maintenance via an IO-Link interface. This combination eliminates the need for dangerous and time-consuming climbing to great heights.”

Managing director Stefan Klarer also holds the innovative Ultrasonic Sensors in high esteem: “Each and every one of our slides is based on adherence to standardized safety requirements. The sensors from wenglor make adherence easy for us: on the one hand they reliably assure safe operations and, on the other hand, they’re easy and convenient to handle – the ideal choice for us.”
